Picking up the gauntlet

A clap of thunder tore through the charged atmosphere like a starter's pistol.

It was quickly followed by the irregular, staccato beat of a dozen heavy raindrops clattering against the thin, tin roof of the climbers’ shelter.  A few seconds later an unremitting arsenal of liquefied bullets hammered down on the corrugated roof, threatening to distort its smooth undulations into a ragged, dimpled finish.

At this point, we had not even passed through the gate into Kilimanjaro National Park, but already the mountain was squaring up to us.

  1. Lemosho route is the most Scenic Climb up Mt Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route using different routes; the one that is most popular is the Mt Kilimanjaro Marangu Route Climb since it is the shortest, is easier and you get to sleep in bunker beds in the huts on the hiking trail with luxuries like beverages and beer. Marangu route up kili is the most popular and therefore the one with the highest traffic. Click here to see the Marangu Route Map

  2. The most popular and scenic route is the Machame Climb Route . This route is however of medium difficulty and is recommended for people with average fitness.

  3. The Machame route is the most popular because it has the best success rate, great acclimatisation being the key.

  4. Hi Jon,

I am a casting producer for an American television show about people buying homes abroad. I came across your blog and wanted to reach out to see if you might be interested in participating in an episode of our show.

House Hunters International tells the story of people who have picked up and moved to an exotic, foreign location to pursue a new life abroad. Being on our show is a lot of fun for our participants and is a great way to document your search for a new home.

We are casting for people who have already bought/rented a home, or are currently looking for a home in a new country. If you or anyone you know meets these qualifications, please don't hesitate to contact me.

I look forward to hearing from you!

    Best,
